Neutral colours are my go-to in the winter months, all for except brown. For some reason, it has never been an easy colour for me to style up. My love for beige, tan and natural colours has grown enormously over the last year and I'm finally ready and excited to jump into styling the deeper brown shades.
& OTHER STORIES JACKET (last season) | COUNTRY ROAD KNIT | REFORMATION SLIP DRESS (old) | OXFORD BOOTS
The winter months are all about rocking the deep rich tones, such as wine and forest green - and camel and chocolate are no exceptions. Here I've managed to incorporate both colours into one outfit, and I have to admit, I'm really loving it. It's an outfit I'll definitely be shamelessly repeating this winter. The trick is to stick to a limited colour palette. So I've stuck to beiges and creams to complement my coat and boots. Restricting the colour palette is relatively easy with natural tones, as the differing tones and hues actually look better and add dimension to your outfit without being OTT. It's the perfect way to get out of the all-black-wearing rut we all tend to get in without branching out into brighter colours.
Can we talk about how amazing these boots are? I would have never thought a couple of years ago that I would be into brown boots again, but I can't get over how comfortable, flattering and easy it is to pull these slouchy knee highs. It perfectly balances the outfit, with the chunky jacket and dress combo. A totally comfortable and reasonable heel height and great alternative to black.
OXFORD COAT | UNIQLO JUMPER | RAEY JEANS | SEED BOOTS (old) | SOPHIE HULME BOLT BAG
If you're feeling a bit braver or you just love your winter browns then a coat in your chosen hue is the natural way. You'll definitely be wearing it for seasons to come so it's worth investing and opting for a high quality one. I love the classic shape of this one as it's been so easy to throw over any basic outfit. It's such a simple way to spice up a jumper and jeans combo. Again, I've paired together differing shades of brown, just to get the outfit more dimension and less of a monochrome effect. You honestly cannot beat the value for money Uniqlo's cashmere knitwear can give you. They are certainly not the softest, highest quality cashmere pieces you can find on the market, but they are still really good quality for a really great price. In so many colours and basic styles, it's a basic you honestly need in your winter wardrobe. These RAEY jeans are the latest addition to the denim collection and I'm totally obsessed with the quality, fit and wash. I am holding myself back from purchasing anymore from the brand!
And now, who said you couldn't wear brown and black together? I apologise if this pairing offends you deeply but I do believe there are cases, like this, that the colours actually pair really well together. By matching my shoes to my bag, and grounding the outfit with denim, it makes this outfit work. It's definitely something to experiment with during the winter months to get the most out of your pieces without getting into a style rut.
