It's been a good few months since my last beauty favourites here on the blog, and I have quite a few products to rave about! My August favs are a little bit of a mix bag of everything, some products are super recent, others I've been using for a few months and there's a variety of summer and winter bits too.
I'm going to jump right into more of my recent purchases from Chanel. The Soleil Tan De Chanel and Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in Shipshape 114 have been go-to's this month. I'm totally obsessed with the an orange-red lip but this one is of a kind I haven't had in my collection before. I've always been into matte, ultra pigmented shades (like MAC's So Chaud) but while I was away in Europe I had this yearning for a sheer, glossy finish. This Chanel one totally satisfied that craving and I was reaching for it everyday after I bought it. The shade is perfect for the hot summer weather and I know I'm going to be reaching for it again as spring comes along. It's also a great product if you're not into the intense reds and want something a more low maintenance. You can easily apply it without a mirror and it feels moisturizing on the lips. The Soleil Tan De Chanel has been a huge favourite this month, especially now that I'm back in the Aussie winter and I feel like I can enjoy more of the cream textures (and less powders). The bronzer applies beautifully onto the skin with very little blending needed and has a great lasting power. The shade is a little warmer than what I would usually go for but it still looks really natural on the skin! I totally recommend picking expensive products like these at duty free when you're travelling to save a few bucks!
Other favourites this month has been Luminous Silk by Giorgio Armani, L'Oreal False Wings mascara and Glossier's Boy Brow. I used all these everyday while I was on holiday so they've had a really good run for their money. Luminious Silk was a major rediscovery as it was only one of the two foundations I took away with me. I just totally forgot how lovely the finish and the lasting power is! It offered just the right amount of coverage and the natural finish was perfect for holiday.
The L'Oreal False Wings mascara was a completely new product to me in July. I have to admit that I'm a bit of a mascara snob and I am dead in love with the YSL Babydoll and never really saw myself diverting anytime soon. But L'Oreal kindly sent me a little package of products to try and I thought I would give the mascara a chance! I was so pleasantly surprised by this mascara! The brush is a pretty odd comb shape and it took some getting use to. At first the product is way too wet clumped my lashes within one or two swipes. Once the mascara got to the perfect 'dry' stage (about 1-2 weeks after), I've been loving it everyday since!
You've probably not stopped hearing about the Glossier Boy Brow and so I won't bore you too much with the same comments. I love it because it just does the job and the size just made the perfect product to travel with. I find it adds so much colour and texture to my brows with very little effort.
I'm having a bit of a MAC moment as there has been so many products I've been trying and absolutely loving from them. Firstly, I have to rave about the new Shape + Shade brow tint product. I've only had this product for a week but I honestly haven't found a brow product (that hasn't been a gel) for the longest time. I've tried a couple of brow pencils over the past year or so and haven't managed to make them work for me. I always find my brows look too drawn on and unnatural. If you're also finding that's the case for you or you're just interested to see how this new products performs, let me tell you it is great. The name basically lays it out all for you, where one end has a waxy pigment to fill the brows and the other end is a felt tip to shape. The waxy pigment is the perfect shade for me (I have Spiked) and has the right amount on it. The felt tip is the best part though. The felt tip is lighter and more subtle in shade than the pigment and for that reason it's optimal for shaping the brow. I've been using it shape the tail end of the brow and the arch and also, adding more texture to the front by adding upward strokes.
I have already been trying out the clear brow gel which is also really nice for holding them in place without making them crispy. It's also nice to have a clear one on hand in case you don't want to add anymore texture or colour to your brows.
Another MAC favourite has been the MAC Strobe Cream in Pink. This product was a bit of a rediscovery for me as I tried it earlier in the year by mixing it in with the MAC Studio Fix Fluid - a great example of how you can cocktail your make up to the way you want it. My skin has really been hit hard by the cooler weather in Sydney and it has just been really dry. The strobe cream feels really cooling on the skin and leaves a lovely glow without being overly shimmery or sparkly. I've been using it as a primer/extra moisturiser and it leaves the skin nicely prepped for foundation.
That's it for my August beauty favourites! I hope you found it helpful and informative and let me know what you've been loving over the past month.
