More often than not, you get what you pay for when it comes to skincare and make up and that's why I am a total sucker for high end products. At the same time though, there are some absolute gems at the drugstore, it just takes a little more hunting. So sit back and relax, because I've done some of the hard work for you, testing out some new drugstore products over summer and I have found some real favourites! Just because summer is on the outs, doesn't mean you can't take the summer beauty shades with you into the cooler months.
It's no secret that I'm crushing on blush tones this year and the colour has also crept into my make up routine. You might have noticed that I've migrated away from my signature black liquid liner and opted for a much softer look. I've been playing around a lot more with eyeshadow (and blush) on the lids and choosing pencil to line the lids.
Brown pencil liner has been a major discovery for me and I've been wearing it with a variety of different shadows over the last few months. I have been loving this Rimmel liner in Rich Brown as the wind up mechanism means its so easy to use and it stays all day. The star of the show has be this Maybelline blush palette. I love the two middle shades for my cheeks (sometimes I mix them too) and all the shades on my eyes. The palette has great pigmentation and you definitely don't need to work hard to achieve great colour pay off.
I've also been easing off the medium coverage foundations and going for something a little more natural. The L'Oreal Glam Beige is perfect for those good skin days where you just need a little evening out and extra glow. If you aren't about the barely-there-coverage-life then it's perfect for those makeup free/less days where you're at home.
To match those blush tones, you can't go wrong with a nude lip. I know the brown 90s shades have been in, but I've totally been in on the pinky nudes. I have quite a lot of natural colour in my lips so the pink doesn't look unnatural on me and adds a lovely amount of colour to the face overall. This L'Oreal one in the shade Moka Chic (633) is such a beautiful matte shade that doesn't cake on the lips.
Now, I know every loves a strong powder highlight, but if you haven't already I would highly recommend trying out a liquid one. This Maybelline one is the perectly affordable, and gives a lovely natural glow-from-within effect. It's also build-able so you can go from au naturale to bling bling in a matter of seconds applying with your fingers or a brush.
Voila! There you have my summer drugstore favourites all in one look! Keep your eyes peeled for more beauty content coming soon!
