Sydney has been relentless with the high temperatures this summer and I'm not gonna lie, I am pretty over it and itching for the winter! With the slow drop in temperature, however, does also come with challenges - transeasonal dressing. Where it's not quite hot, not quite cold, cool mornings, hot days, pouring with rain but intense humidity... You get the gist.
Although, I'm loving even a two degree temperature drop and jumping at any opportunity to even wear a light layer or pants, transitional dressing can still be pretty tricky. I definitely haven't ever made it through the transitional season smooth sailing and without getting into any style ruts, but since being on my quest to making more conscious and purposeful purchases, I have been really inspired during the early days of autumn thus far. I have actually been finding so much joy in being able to constantly wear the same pieces but in lots of different ways.
My first and latest recent obsession has been suiting.
This was a big area in my wardrobe that has always been lacking. It's not to say I've made terrible purchases my whole life, but I have managed to get by with jeans being my main squeeze and form of pants. Since, starting my fulltime job five months ago, I have been making it my mission to find a perfect set of trousers. Black trousers will be in another post soon, but let's talk about these check beauties. I managed to score these in the recent Scanlan Theodore sale and I have been loving these. They have been the perfect basic with a twist, without being too extravagant. I have mostly been loving them with a basic white tee and trainers, and I still feel so put together and chic even though it is such a simple combo. They are also 100% cotton and totally breathable, and ever so practical and chic for work and weekends.
Let's talk linen.
Now, for this linen jacket. Isn't the colour just enough to woo you? But quite honestly, this linen jacket has been the piece I never ever knew I needed until now. It has been a total godsend in this awkward transitional season of inbetween temps. I have also totally fallen in love with the duck egg colour and it goes perfectly with these Scanlan Theodore trousers I scored in the sale. I highly recommend investing in a lightweight jacket, that you can easily throw on and feel prepared for the day. There's nothing worse than over or under dressing!
And, yes there is a matching top.
As, you can probably already tell, I have developed a very strong liking to the jacket and top pair and will definitely be wearing the two together for as long as I can just simply switching out the bottoms. This top, is also, a fantastic piece for the autumn. Perfect layering piece, great for the office and keeps you relatively warm without working up a sweat. Never fear, I have also picked these up in my trusty basic black and cream colourways, ready for the next three months.
That wraps up all my transeasonal dressing tips for the time being - but like I said, I am feeling really inspired at the moment so there will definitely be more outfits coming soon!
